Green smoothies, green smoothies, green smoothies. We’re all supposed to looove green smoothies, right? Trying to establish a health food blog, I feel that I have to touch on green smoothies. We’re supposed to love them and I always see people talking about how much they do, but I can’t help but…. not love them?
I can’t really stomach the taste of liquified greens. Spinach is the worst for me. Kale is okay. I’ve tried adding less greens and more of other things to mask the “green” taste, but it doesn’t help too much. I’ve also tried green smoothie powder, which surprisingly isn’t too bad.
But everybody always seems to love them! What I am missing?!
Here’s one I made the other morning with a handful of kale, 1/2 an orange, strawberries, flax seed, 1/2 of a banana and almond milk.
Not TOO bad. Kale is definitely my go-to smoothie green when I don’t have green smoothie powder on hand. Spinach is just too strong of a taste for me. Kind of pretty with the little flecks of kale green and strawberry red, right?
And then here’s another one I made the other day, which definitely had more of a smoothie consistency. No greens! It had frozen strawberries, 1/2 a banana, flax seeds, chia seeds, 1/2 an orange, 1 carrot, and a mix of almond and coconut milk. Definitely delicious.
So I’m curious. Does anybody else have this green smoothie love-hate relationship? If you fall more towards the love side, what are your secrets?! And, well, if you fall on the hate side, thank you for not making me stand alone!
